A native of California who grew up in New Orleans, Amy graduated from Louisiana State University School of Law in 2006, immediately relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee, was admitted to the Tennessee Bar, and began a family law practice. She handled divorces, conservatorships, and juvenile criminal defense, but her passion was to advocate for abused and neglected children, serving as a guardian ad litem for more than five hundred children in courts in several East Tennessee counties. She then entered public service full time as Assistant General Counsel for Tennessee’s Department of Children’s Services.
Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts from Rhodes College in International Relations and a Masters of Arts in Foreign Policy from the University of London. In London, she worked for NBC News, assisting foreign correspondents for Nightly News. In New Orleans, she worked for the NBC local news affiliate. She also worked in corporate media relations in Silicon Valley for Fortune 500 tech companies.
Amy joined Moore Ingram Johnson & Steele in 2011, focusing on Worker’s Compensation defense in the Knoxville, Tennessee office.
