Worker's Compensation Defense

Zeelita Smith practices in the area of workers’ compensation defense. She was born and raised in Metro-Atlanta and is a proud native of Clayton County. She graduated from Georgia State University, magna cum laude, with a B.A. in Political Science in May 2014. After graduating, Zeelita was eager to begin her career as an attorney and attended The University of Georgia School of Law in Athens, Georgia where she earned her Juris Doctorate in May 2018.

While attending The University of Georgia, Zeelita was very active. She was Vice-President of the Davenport-Benham Chapter of The Black Law Students Association and Treasurer for the Family Law Society. She also participated in Athens-Clarke County Peer Court assisting high school and middle schooler’s advocate on behalf of juveniles accused of minor crimes and various advocacy competitions at Georgia Law. Zeelita was a quarterfinalist at the 2016 J. Melvin England Mock Trial Competition. She interned at the DeKalb County Public Defender’s Office and was provided the opportunity of an externship with Judge David Sweat of Athens-Clarke County Superior Court. Zeelita was able to practice her advocacy skills in the Family Violence Clinic where she represented underprivileged clients that could not afford representation in various domestic violence cases.

Prior to joining Moore, Ingram, Johnson & Steele, she worked for an Atlanta family law firm representing various clients in domestic relations cases for over six years developing her skills as a civil litigator.

Zeelita is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, Georgia Young Lawyers’ Division and Cobb County Bar Association. Zeelita was a registered Civil and Domestic Relations Mediator. She resides in Marietta, Georgia. Zeelita faithfully supports the Georgia Bulldogs and enjoys spending her time with family and friends, traveling, and dining at new restaurants.
